Welcome to the official page of OG-10, formerly known as Mac-10 and The 10. This page has been a long time coming. On this page I will feed my long time supporters with some of the joints from the archives as well as lace you up with some new flavor. It’s your behind the scenes look at the thoughts and musical creations of the OG. Thank you for stopping by, now let’s take a ride!
Check Out “Don’t Bite the Hand that Feeds You”
I know it’s been a long wait, but I finally have it together. I am making new music. It took a while to figure things out, but I’m back in business. I have a new song called “Don’t Bite the Hand that Feeds You.” It’s available on all streaming platforms right now so definitely check it out on your favorite DSP. I’m still working my system to be able to be more consistent making music while also maintaining the whole MyDetroitHustle ecosystem. The subject matter of the song is something I’m sure everyone can relate to. It’s a message to those people in your life who come to you when they need help. Once they get what they want, they’re trying to put a knife in your back as soon as they get the chance. The whole joint is written, composed and performed by me, OG-10. You can get a little taste of the vibe in the promo video snippet above.
“Grind “N Hustle” by OG-10 is now available on Bandcamp!!!
That’s right, the new single by OG-10, “Grind “N Hustle” is now available on Bandcamp. The supporters have voiced their requests for the OG to get back in the booth and he has finally answered. This track is fully written, produced and performed by OG-10. This dark, funky joint captures the imagination with its infectious hook and OG-10’s legendary wordplay. Reminder, the best way to make sure artists are compensated is to buy their music instead of using streaming services. The record is available to buy on Bandcamp. You can play the song a few times for free or get unlimited streaming and own a digital copy of “Grind ‘N Hustle” to play as much as you like for only $1 in the player above and on the OG-10 Bandcamp page. Angel of Death
My people have been trying to get me to get back in the booth for a while. The truth is, I have very little desire to be a recording artist, but, creating this site has put me back in a creative space. I’ve also been inspired by the technological advances that have taken place during my time away. So, I offer my supporters a compromise. I probably will not be touring or making many appearances, but I will do what I can to dig out some of the joints from the archives and make them available, as well as release some new creations, because this new technology has inspired me to fool around a little bit. For now, check out a snippet from one of my early releases, ”Angel of Death,” in the player below. Look for this to be available on streaming platforms soon!
The Wild Plug Show
I had the opportunity to do a very dope interview on a show out of Belgium called The Wild Plug Show. It is very cool to be able to link up with people in different markets again. I remember the last few years before I took my hiatus from the music business, I was pretty much exclusively doing features with artists from Europe and South America. I really enjoy doing music with people that do it for the art. I don’t really care much for industry politics and agendas. My memories of my foreign collaborations was people hitting me up saying, “I like your music,” and we just started working. In my opinion that’s how it’s supposed to be. In today’s world, it’s not just about music. It’s about content too. It was cool to have a content creator from overseas appreciate what I do and reach out. I’m very pleased how the interview turned out. I was asked to do a freestyle during the interview but I declined. A little bit later when I was in the mood, I recorded a freestyle and sent it to The Wild Plug Show. Check out my interview and freestyle video from The Wild Plug Show below.
The Writing Session
One of the things I’m definitely using this page for is to communicate with my supporters. As you all know, I have been retired from making music for a long while. The work I have been putting in on this site and things related has put me back into a creative space where I feel I can release some new music. I made a video on My Detroit HustleTV, our YouTube channel, to give you guys an update on how the process is going. I also give you a snippet of a writing session. You can check it out above or at My Detroit HustleTV on YouTube @MyDetroitHustleTV6438. I hope you enjoy.
Xilo
We’ve already announced that the new single, “Don’t Bite the Hand that Feeds You”will be coming to Bandcamp and streaming platforms soon. Along with dropping songs and freestyles, expect for some of the instrumentals you hear on our social media posts to be available to buy or stream also. Right now, we’re leaning towards dropping “Xilo” as our first instrumental that will be available for public consumption. Check out this MyDetroitHustle.com promo video that features the “Xilo” beat instrumental.
Get the “Rhythm”
I promise you I’m going to release some new music. I have a few things in the tuck. I have just been so busy running this site it’s been hard to get back into the flow of making music. I have promised my supporters some new music and I aim to fulfill my promise. The new single is recorded. I just need to get the whole paperwork thing together and I need to ask a few of my artist friends a few more questions about how this “New Age” music business works and I will be ready to drop. In the mean time, here is a video for one of my beat instrumentals. Yes, I’m going to be putting out instrumental records too. Check this one out. It’s called “Rhythm.”
Soul on a Roll
There seems to be a lot of interest in Detroit Hip Hop history lately. I think it’s cool that the pioneers of the city are starting to get their much deserved flowers. I’m glad people like DJ Butter and B Boy Reg have taken interest in telling the story. I see others following their lead and it’s great to see the story is being told. As I’ve said earlier, at the urging of my loyal supporters, I’ve decided to release some new material. In the meantime, as I find different things in the archives, I’m going to share some of the old music as well as tell my story. With that being said, here is a clip from my single, “Soul on a Roll’ from I think 1991. Interesting facts about this single. It was produced by me and DJ Sabotage who at the time was known as DJ Code Red. We worked on the beats to the project in the basement on a SP-1200 over DJ Mystro’s house from the legendary Detroit hip hop group Kaos & Mystro. For those of you who don’t know, DJ Mystro is Jason Wilson who is now an author, martial arts instructor and has his own ESPN documentary “The Cave of Adullam.” The engineer on the project was Mike Clark who made a name for himself producing for Kid Rock and ICP. What is so dope about this single is, I went in the studio and paid to record this track out of my pocket. Years later, I would be contacted by dj’s and record collectors overseas trying to get copies of the vinyl. The vinyl is a collectors item and people have paid over a thousand dollars for a copy. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that happening when I scraped up my little money to pay for studio time hoping to put the song out in a barely existent Detroit hip hop market.
Droppin’ Gems with “Free Game“
When I started MyDetroitHustle.com, I had no idea what it would be. I just new it was a good name, so I started marketing. I knew I wanted to drop some knowledge and I knew the site would involve hip hop. I kind of ended up going heavy on the hip hop once things got started. It was a natural thing. I mean, I know hip hop. But, I have also lived a lot of life, some of it very fast. I wanted to share my wealth of life experience with those who are interested in learning from it. Finally, the idea for “Free Game” came about. “Free Game” consists of short videos where I drop a quick jewel and keep it moving. I have many more ideas in the works with the purpose of spreading knowledge, but for now, expect to be laced up with a little “Free Game” from time to time. Check out some of this “Free Game” in the player above.
All the Way Live
We have been hitting social media pretty hard for a while. We have been dropping “Free Game” and interviews on YouTube on the channel, My Detroit HustleTV. (Click here to visit My Detroit HustleTV.). The MyDetroitHustle.com Playlists are really moving on Spotify. Next up, I’m going live. That’s right people, I’m going to start going live. I realize that going live is one of the best way to connect with the audience even if it’s one person at a time, so that’s just what I’m going to do. Look for the OG to be live-streaming on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and even here at MyDetroitHustle.com. I plan to be doing some exclusive things that will only go down on the livestreams so make sure you’re there. I will be taking some of the content from the lives and putting them on YouTube and in social media posts, but not all. Check out one of my practice runs at live-streaming in the player above.
