A couple of weeks ago I made a post on social media about an experience I had on the Eastside of Detroit at a gas station. It was about 5 am and I was paying the cashier for my gas and she asked me for two dollars. It really blew my mind. I”m used to people begging at the gas station, but not the cashier. It was pretty funny so I posted it on social media and the post got a lot of engagement. For those of you not from Detroit, we crack on each other. We joke about whether the Eastside or the Westside is most messed up. You will see all kind of ill memes on social media about the topic. Well, like I said before, I don’t really get into the Eastside, Westside thing, but I had to post about being asked for two dollars by a cashier at a gas station. Well, I cracked on the Eastside, now I gotta tell you what happened to me on the Westside this week. Again, it’s about 5am and Im low on gas so I have to stop at this gas station on the Westside. I see what I think is a security guard outside the gas station and he looked like he was dancing. As, I pull up I see one of those big bluetooth speakers outside blasting Kirk Franklin’s “Stomp.” I would normally pull off, but I needed gas. I walk in the gas station and I have to ask homeboy to move because he’s in the door dancing and I can’t get in. As I look in the store, I see a woman inside the store bent over dancing furiously. I mean she was dancing hard, twerking and what not. This whole thing is crazy. It’s 5am at a gas station. So, I pay for my gas and I’m looking at the cashier to see how he is reacting to this whole situation. He just shrugged his shoulders and looked at me like this was perfectly normal. So, I’m about to walk out and I glance to my right and the girl is still dancing, but now she has pulled her shirt up and is basically dancing topless. It’s 5am… We are at a gas station. Since everyone else was actioning like this is normal, I just acted like it was normal. I walked back to my car, pumped my gas and went about my way. In my head Im thinking this is absolutely some of the craziest sh#t I’ve ever seen in my life, and it happened on the Westside. Westside, we gotta take this L! Sorry, Westside is holding the title right now.
