The title of this page is pretty much self explanatory. Sometimes I get quick thoughts about topics that don’t really fit on the pages of this site. This is the spot where I get those quick thought off. Nothing more, nothing less.
“Thun” on Repeat
This new single, “Thun” by Nas is fire. I got it on repeat. I was on the road to Nashville. I think I played it for two hours straight. The beat is crazy and Nas seems to have rediscovered the flow that made him a legend. The stuff Nas has released the past couple of years has been cool, but “Thun” sounds like “New York State of Mind” Nas. Producer Hit-Boy really laced Nas with this chopped up string sample track. I don’t know about the rest of the new album, but I know for this three minutes and some change, Nas recaptured his legendary form.
I Can’t Wait to Hear “Destiny”
I’m very interested in hearing how the new project from DMV area artist Big Bruh sounds like. The project is called “Destiny.” I’m hearing that Big-T Beatz did a beat or two on the project. Actually, Big-T Beatz is the executive producer of “Destiny.” On Point made a lyrical contribution to the project. Sounds like it has all the ingredients needed to make it a winner. I can’t wait to hear what it sounds like.
Gangs of London
If you are the type of person who enjoyed series’s like “The Sopranos,” “The Wire,” or “Breaking Bad,” I have a treat for you. If you are a fan of the gangster flicks and series’s, “Gangs of London” is that deal. The series is just as good as those aforementioned, but there is one big difference. The action scenes are “Walking Dead” gory. Yes, the fight scenes, the shootouts are horror flick gory. I really have never seen anything like it. The only problem I have with the series is that I’m not that familiar with British slang,so sometimes the dialogue loses me. “Gangs of London” is streaming on AMC+. Season 2 just started recently. I know some of you are already up on it, but I’m telling you all about this one because I became aware of most of the best series’s I’ve watched because of recommendations from friends. I highly recommend “Gangs of London.”
Dame Black Joins My Favorites List
The more I hear Dame Black’s music, the more I am impressed with him as a recording artist. When I say recording artist, I mean someone who can make a dope record. What is impressive about Dame is that he is a lyricist, and let’s be honest, most of your pure lyricists are not good recording artists. Most of them can’t write songs. A lot of them can’t pick beats or come up with a concept for a song. They can be extremely skilled, but no one wants to hear their music. This is not the case with Dame Black. It is a very difficult balancing act to flex your skills yet say something people are interested in. Beat picking is a skill in itself, and having the humility to let a producer produce you requires a level of maturity every artist doesn’t have. The more I hear Dame Black, the more I am impressed with him as an overall artist and I’m able to hear his stuff enough to be impressed with him because he’s enough of a hustler to keep his stuff in your face where you can’t ignore it. You know I’m a sucker for strong product and strong hustle. What I mean by one of my favorites, I mean someone I listen to their songs the same way I listen to someone I like on the radio that I don’t know. I like their song or their album or their video yet I have no personal stake in their success. It is a big thing when I know you and I listen to your music because I like it, not because you’re my man or because you’re from the hood or the city. There are very few artists that I know that I listen to as a fan. Dame Black just reached that level for me.
